Then explore ways to help your child become more comfortable, safe and playful in the water. Parents play an important role by providing security and encouragement for the little ones. No diapers are to be worn in the pool. Children under the age of 3 must wear swim diapers in the pool. (Available for purchase at the Front Desk)

Adult Programs
Water provides the ideal environment for exercise. The natural buoyancy of water reduces weight bearing stress, allowing greater ease of movement with less impact on joints and muscles. The increased density of water creates even and fluid resistance, toning, and strengthening muscles with greater balance and efficiency.

H2O Exercise Fee
Take advantage of our H2O Fee and attend any or all of our Water Exercise Classes. Don’t be limited to a specific class at a specific time; enjoy the flexibility offered by attending as many classes during the session that you can.

Water Jog
With the aid of a float belt, you run in the deep and shallow ends of the swimming  pool. It is a great cardiovascular workout.

Water Exercise
It's an exercise program that is both refreshing and beneficial in all fitness components. This class efficiency utilizes the water to enhance flexibility and muscle toning while eliminating the stress on joints.

AI CHI
Ai Chi is a simple exercise and relaxation program performed using a combination of deep breathing and slow, broad movements of the legs, arms and torso. First week of each session will teach/review all the moves used in the program.

Rusty Hinges
A forty-minute class designed for senior citizens, individuals suffering from arthritis, joint problems, muscle problems or back problems.

PM Water Exercise
An evening beginning/intermediate level water exercise class.

Water Volleyball
Recreational volleyball played in the shallow end of the pool. Everyone over the age of sixteen is invited to play. No registration is necessary.

Superior Swim Club
Join the Superior Swim Club in 2008. You swim the laps; we keep track of your progress. This year we are swimming AROUND Lake Michigan. Swimmers miles will be combined and our progress will be marked on a map in the lap pool. Points of interest will be noted as we swim to them. You will also be entered into the monthly prize drawings.

Progressive Swim Lessons

Come Swim With Us!
The Superior YMCA offers youth, ages nine months and older an opportunity to learn to swim. Our YMCA incorporates methods developed by the National YMCA. We're sure you'll be pleased as you watch your child develop safety skills, physical endurance (even beginners do laps) and swimming skills. Our beginners are taught to swim "faceout" first with the use of floatation aids. We've had great success with this method as beginning swimmers gain arm and leg strength and experience
early success, motivating them to greater challenges.
