Superior Douglas County Family YMCA


The Y Youth Sports Program is an excellent way to introduce your child to the popular sports of flag football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, and t-ball. This program teaches the skills in each sport, while also focusing on the development of hand-eye coordination and motor-skills. Players learn the concepts of team work and fair play while interacting with other children. These programs place a high emphasis on having fun & ensuring that each player has equal opportunity to play.

Volunteer Coaches
Youth sports at the Y are a success in large part because of all the volunteer coaches. Each team in each league is coached, often by a parent, on a volunteer basis. Each Youth Sports program has opportunities for volunteers to coach, assist and referee games. If you’re a parent of a child enrolling in a youth sport and would like to be a coach, please provide information on the registration form.

Here are the youth sports programs we are offering currently:


This program emphasizes soccer skills, good sportsmanship, fair play, and team work. ONE weekly practice, site TBD, and ONE game each Saturday at the SHS soccer fields.

* Game cancellations will be announced via email to all coaches & players. It will be posted on YMCA Facebook page also.
**NO GAMES Memorial Weekend, May 26**
* Games on Saturday mornings
* Practices are set by each team during the Meet & Greet. Options are Monday, Tuesday or Thursday early evenings. One practice each week.

A great intro to America’s Pastime for all youth entering a 4K program, through 2nd Grade! Coaches work on the basic skills during Tuesday practices and players test these skills during Thursday games. Playing time is equal amongst all participants with emphasis placed on skill development.

Meet & Greet is Tuesday, June 5 in the Superior YMCA gymnasium.
**PK-K Division @ 5:30pm
**1-2 Division @ 6:30pm

Practices begin June 12 and games begin June 21.

Practices are Tuesdays and games are Thursdays, both at Bayside Baptist Church in Billings Park. Each are scheduled to last one hour. YMCA provides all necessary equipment except baseball gloves/mitts. Every player received a team shirt to keep.

Youth Running Club

Join us this summer as we explore a wide variety of outdoor running destinations throughout the Twin Ports! For youth ages 7-17 with an interest in outdoor running and exploring the great trails in our area. Everything from Park Point, Enger Tower, Millenium Trail and even the track at the NBC Sports Complex are a potential for this program. And once your child is registered, we encourage parents to join in the fun at no additional cost!

  • Program meets Mondays & Wednesdays from June 11 - August 1
  • 5:30-6:30pm each night. Inclement weather will result in cancellation of that day.
  • Specific calendar will be posted HERE soon!
  • All youth, ages 7-17 are invited to join regardless of running experience.
